Special prayer request for a former colleague

June 4, 2009

Many of you may not recognize the name of Dr. David Clutts.  Many of you may.  Dr. Clutts along with Dr. Bob Cropsey were instrumental in helping to get the Karolyn Kempton Memorial Christian Hospital open and operational.  It is possible to walk around the compound here and see the handiwork of Dr. Clutts.  He is not only a gifted surgeon but a very talented man when it comes to make a hospital operational.

Dr. Clutts also demonstrated a great burden to the Togolese and it is possible to talk with various individuals here who lives were touched by Dr. Clutts.
We received the following bit of information this afternoon from their daughter, Suzanna:

This is Susanna Clutts requesting prayer on behalf of my dad.  He has been sick with an infection and myocarditis for the past week.  By outward appearances and labs, he is doing well. However his heart catheterization today showed several blockages.  He is having open heart surgery tomorrow morning (6/4/09) at 7:30 am CST. Your prayers would be much appreciated. I can keep you updated.
Thanks,

This evening a further update was provided by Suzanna:

Thank you all for your prayers! God has answered exceedingly above.
We are in the room with him now. He looks great for a post op heart [patient]!!
They will wake him up later this afternoon/evening and hopefully extubate him. Mom is doing well. He had a double bypass (the rest is medical jargon for the [medical types]) using the left internal mammary artery and the saphenous vein. The LAD was70% occluded, the right main was 80%. he has a 100% occlusion near the apex that had good collaterals and was too small to fix. ABGs are good as well as all pressures.  Renal perfusion is great. He only needed 2 units of blood this far. No assessment for neuro deficits yet but don't foresee any.   Again, thank you all for your prayers! He's doing great. Dad said before he went back that "It Is Well" was the hymn in his heart this a.m.  And from the family support has been great. God is showing his all-sufficient grace and strength for Beth and me as we hold thing together on the home front as well as work. We were able to get today and tomorrow off.

Susanna
"My grace is sufficient for you; my strength is made perfect in your weakness."

Please pray for this dear former colleague and dear brother in Christ.  To check and see if there is any further information on Dr. Clutts’ condition, we will be posting updates as they become available.
